What does MVP mean to you?I regard the MVP award not only as recognition of a specialist’s skill set, but also as an acknowledgement of our efforts devoted to benefiting the community. Personally, I value the award because it lends me credibility among my clients and I also appreciate that I can obtain information about Microsoft products directly from the teams at Microsoft.If you could ask Steve Ballmer one question about Microsoft, what would it be?I would ask Steve Ballmer "What is Microsoft doing to help people from developing countries to become specialists?" I feel that it is important that people within developing nations have access to the same technological tools and resources that we enjoy, and believe that there are opportunities for Microsoft to take the lead in these efforts.What do you think the best software ever written was?Without a doubt, I consider Office 2003 and Microsoft Visual Studio® .NET 2003 to be the best software ever written. I choose Office 2003 because I think that Microsoft Office Excel® is, and will continue to be, the best product since there are so many wonderful features to develop spreadsheets and improve one’s business. Whereas, Visual Studio .NET 2003 is an extraordinarily powerful tool that enables developers to create an assortment of applications. Furthermore, it is fast and easy to use, which helps to improve developer productivity.
For the past 11 years, I have helped businesses in developing new strategic business processes through the implementation of software. Many companies were unaware that their business thinking had changed. They simply used the software, and the improvements evolved as new information became available - a clear indicator of good software. As time passes, developments in IT are going to dramatically improve the way we think. We have much to realize regarding the importance of these changes and the value software has to our own development. | If you were the manager of Windows - Mobile Devices, what would you change?I would implement features pertaining to localization and voice command in managed code as soon as possible. Today, the market and the public demand these features, either in Smartphones, Pocket PCs, or embedded in cars. In addition, I would change the parameters regarding sharing information, because Mobility is still a restricted market and needs more constant activity in the community. Finally, I would like to see more articles and books related to this topic.If you were given unlimited data bandwidth, what would you do with it?If I had access to unlimited data bandwidth, I would produce video-based e-learning courses on subjects such as Microsoft SQL Server TM, Visual Studio .NET 2003 and Visual Studio .NET 2005, Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Office and Web services. These classes would include interviews with renowned professionals in the market. Also, I would like to extend these features to television programs and university classrooms to further facilitate learning without leaving home.What was the last book you read?Most recently, I have read The Monk and The Executive by James C. Hunter, and Framework Design Guidelines by Brad Abrams and Krzysztof Cwalina.What music CD do you recommend?I really enjoy the music of U2, so I would recommend most of their songs. U2’s "The Best of 1980 -1990" would be a good place to start.What makes you a great MVP?I have a great passion and dedication for Microsoft products and have spoken often at public conferences about the future of Microsoft technology. A challenge that I really enjoy is beta-testing because I like the process of discovering the products and then writing about them so that the communities have a better understanding of what Microsoft will soon release. I always seek to learn new information and to share this knowledge with the community. Moreover, I am constantly searching for visionary solutions that can be implemented through technology. | What’s in your computer bag?In my computer bag, one will find typical Mobility tools such as a pen-drive, a Smartphone, a Pocket PC and an MP3 player.What’s the best thing that has happened since you’ve become an MVP?I have appreciated having access to the Program Manager teams and the opportunity to participate in Professional Developer Conference (PDC) round table events with the directors and General Managers, which are restricted to only 20 technical journalists. (Since I am an editor of MSDN Magazine Brazil, I was invited to participate). I have also had the opportunity to deliver speeches at PDC Brazil and the MVP Road Show. And, of course, the community recognition is gratifying also.What is your motto?Two mottos specifically resonate with me: "Share the information you have because one day you may need someone to share with you," and "Show passion and love for the things that you do."Who is your hero?I have many heroes. For example, I admire Ayrton Senna (Formula 1 Race Car Driver), Gustavo Kuerten (Professional Tennis Player), and Bill Gates (Technology Guru). At first glance, this may seem like a diverse group, but they all have the following common attributes: intelligence, objectivity, practicality, a focus on winning, and an ability to consistently perform at an outstanding level.What does success mean to you?I think that success is exemplified by satisfaction and appreciation for a job well done. |
