What does MVP mean to you?Being an MVP is a great way to help people because we volunteer to solve others’ problems while also learning new topics and software features everyday. I especially enjoy addressing questions that are new to me because it is more stimulating than providing answers to topics I already know. As an MVP, I think it is also important to maintain professional behavior even when "trolls" are spamming or being impolite in the newsgroups. Everything we write has the potential to be read worldwide, so we must exercise both patience and consideration when writing responses. The MVP community is also a convenient channel for communicating and sharing our collective knowledge and competencies. Finally, I admit that I enjoy being recognized by community users in local events or summits. If you could ask Steve Ballmer one question about Microsoft, what would it be?I would not ask him anything technical as I know that others could ask a good technical question. I think I would ask only one, rather self-serving question - "Could you increase the MVP credit on eCompany store?" While it may seem like a funny question, I truly love merchandising! What do you think the best software ever written was?My experience is somewhat limited since I am 23 and only have been working in the IT field since 2002, so my knowledge of past software is limited. Mainly, I work with Microsoft Windows® Client OS, Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop. Therefore, I think that I would vote for Adobe Photoshop. If you were the manager of Microsoft Word, what would you change?A common annoying problem that affects the Italian version of Microsoft Word is the msgrit32.dll bug, which causes Microsoft Word to crash. The only way to avoid this problem is to use a workaround that disables grammar checker and smart tag flagging. Italian users would greatly appreciate if Microsoft attended to this problem, but the issue still remains unsolved. I expect that Microsoft Office 2003 SP2 will help users who use this version, but those who use other versions remain frustrated or angry. I also wrote a knowledge base article reviewing the problem: "Buffer Overrun Detected when running Microsoft Word (Italian version)". If I were a Microsoft Word manager, I would make solving this problem a priority. | If you were given unlimited data bandwidth, what would you do with it?I would download terabytes of information from the web. There is so much information available, but few ways to access this knowledge. Ideally, I would like to catalog every event since the Big Bang. I would start by downloading all the music files in existence, assuming it would be legal, because I would like to be familiar with every artist, every genre and every song composed. What was the last book you read?In the past, I literally devoured many thriller books. Now, I read only online blogs and reviews. With regard to paper material, I am a Manga fan and read many Japanese comics, especially Shojo. From a technical perspective, I also read Technet magazine. What music CD do you recommend?I enjoy several kinds of music, usually when describing my musical tastes, I say, "from Beethoven to Sepultura." Overall, I would suggest CDs by Depeche Mode, Enya, Ennio Morricone, Nickelback, Queen, Steve Vai, disco from the 1980’s, among many others. If I must choose just one CD, as a fan of Skunk Anansie, I would pick "Post Orgasmic Chill."What makes you a great MVP??I consider "great" to be somewhat exaggerated since I describe myself simply as a Microsoft Office expert user and junior system administrator. However, I do admit to putting passion in my work. I worked as a Microsoft Office teacher and now I am at a help desk, so helping people is my duty and pleasure. Also, I try everyday to increase my knowledge, such as taking MCP certification exams. So far, I am a MCP, MCDST and a MOS Master Instructor. What’s in your computer bag?My beloved notebook, which I have had since I began working in IT (I refuse to change it, though sometimes I punch it and sometimes I care for it). I also keep a 250 Gb external disk, candies and cookies, 2 UMTS mobile phones and the MVP-branded Creative MuVo mp3 player. Furthermore, I will add that I bought my laptop bag on eCompany store, and my preferred bag is the VictorInox MVP-bag, received as 2004 MVP-welcome gift. | What’s the best thing that has happened since you’ve become an MVP?Actually, there are two things that I value most. First, I appreciate my friendships with other Italian MVPs and feeling appreciated by MVPs and Microsoft members. Secondly, as a Christmas gift for other Italian MVPs, I created a screensaver, which was also noticed by my MVP Lead. Consequently, I was asked to produce another screensaver for all EMEA MVPs. My Lead presented this screensaver at the MVP Global Summit in Seattle during the MVP dinner. I am especially honored and exalted by this experience! What is your motto?"Try, try, try. Never let time and things pass you by." Currently, my life is in transition because I have experienced many changes since 2004 - new work, new city, new home and MVP nomination. With so many changes, life can be a bit challenging, but I continue to put forth my best effort because it is important to be strong - now more than ever.Who is your hero?I have no hero. Perhaps a long time ago my answer would have been "cartoon heroes." Seriously though, I think everyone is a hero when he / she does something good for free. What does success mean to you?Being profiled on this page is a great success for me. I do not require a flood of money, a house in the Caribbean, or a shiny limousine. I am satisfied with the small new house that I bought with my boyfriend, having a good job and nice colleagues, being an MVP, and having good friends. All of these things are a great reward for me and a great success in my life. |
