What does MVP mean to you?The first time I learned of the MVP Program, I understood that Microsoft really cares about the customers and satisfying all their technology needs. Being an MVP is an honor that recognizes my activities in the community as worthwhile and gives me confidence that I can access information that I need in a timely manner. I can communicate with peers who can help me to solve problems, but also I willingly bear the responsibility of sharing this information and technology among the entire community. The MVP award motivated me to work harder to know more about .NET and be able to give valuable information to people who want to know.If you could ask Steve Ballmer one question about Microsoft, what would it be?Within the Information Technology field, Microsoft is unparalleled with regard to the number of resources and documentations it has produced. There are complete help references for every product, and many websites and newsgroups are visited daily for "how to" information. However, I would ask Steve Ballmer, "Even with all these resources, there are still many ambiguous issues that need resolution. What will Microsoft do to improve this matter?"What do you think the best software ever written was?I think that ASP.NET 2.0 associated with the new features of Visual Studio 2005 is the best. I really love the master pages, the site map control, and the use of generics, the lovely code snippets, the new logon controls and project properties window. If you were the manager of Visual Developer - Visual Basic, what would you change?First, I would request a tool to manage the code of data source controls in .NET 2005. Also I would ask for a better way to handle the template based controls via the GUI and the code, and finally, to automatically create a help file by collecting the code comments as the C# programmers are able to do. | If you were given unlimited data bandwidth, what would you do with it?I would download as many code samples of the new release of .NET 2005 as I could and then would share them openly, adding more that are needed in our e-business projects. What was the last book you read?I am reading the new series of Microsoft books of .NET and SQL Server 2005. I am reading Advanced Web Application Development with Visual Studio 2005.What music CD do you recommend?Lately I have not used my MP3 player much except to listen to some verses of our Holy Book Qura’an. But in general, I love instrumental music such as Enya or Vangelis. Also, I love some songs from the 60’s and music from Arabian singers such as Fadel Shaker, Amr Diab and Shereen. What makes you a great MVP?I think the word GREAT is a bit exaggerated since what I do is learn about the latest technology and more about programming. I really love to inspire the enthusiasm of others to develop better programs and use better techniques and think that I am a good speaker at conferences and events. I like international exams so I have several technical certifications and am working on a Master’s degree in Business Administration. I really love my work as a programmer and programming instructor because I love to gain and share knowledge. | What’s in your computer bag?As a woman, I wish that I could carry a lipstick in my bag one day instead of the removable flash disk that I have now. However, I cannot go anywhere without my laptop stuffed with software and files to read including MSDN articles, my removable hard disk, some spare CDs and DVDs, an MSDN Web cast DVD and my mobile phone. What is the best thing that has happened since you have become an MVP?Actually, there two events. I enjoyed the MVP Global Summit in Redmond where I networked with many MVPs and the .NET team who gave us valuable information about the new, unreleased version of .NET. I also enjoy the female launching events, which were the first events that I led and through which I spoke about the new .NET release Whidbey 2005 and the SQL Server 2005 release. It was gratifying to see so many Saudi females attending events about programming, and I was excited to share the new cool product features with them. What is your motto? It is something that my parents have always said and comes from our holy book, the holy Qura’an: "Work hard and do your best, the rest is in God (Allah)’s hands".Who is your hero?My hero in patience, mercy, sympathy, willingness to be useful to others, facing all obstacles and achieving goals, the will to turn everything bad into good, the symbol of the constant faith and peace - is our prophet "Mohamed" sala allah alyhe wasalm. What does success mean to you?It means a temporary happiness that I have earned one goal, which in turn, inspires a strong will to work harder to earn the next goal. |
