What does MVP mean to you?Receiving the MVP award has been the greatest surprise and event that I have ever experienced. It has helped me to reach my full potential by helping more people. It is a great honor to be selected as an MVP in addition to the countless program advantages. Working with Infocenter, one of the best Microsoft Partners in Kuwait, has provided me with the technical resources that I need to become a professional; however, the MVP Program has contributed many more resources. The element that I treasure most as an MVP is the spirit of the MVP Program leads, managers and Kuwait MVPs’ companies. If you could ask Steve Ballmer one question about Microsoft, what would it be?I would like to ask him what Microsoft’s strategy is on leading and managing projects. In addition, what resources would he suggest to read in order to think creatively to achieve excellence and higher targets. What do you think the best software ever written was? Each and every Microsoft product is the best in its own way. For example, Microsoft® Office is really the best product for office users. And .NET™ development products are the best tools for developers. I feel this also applies to Microsoft® Exchange Server 2007, Microsoft® Office Sharepoint Server 2007, Windows™ Vista and Windows Server® "Longhorn". Since Microsoft listens to customers and keeps improving its products by releasing new versions, it is able generate products that are best in class. If you were the manager of Windows Server System, what would you change? There are many third party utilities that truly add value to Microsoft products and they are extremely important for IT Pros. I would ask the Microsoft Windows Server System team to improve the next versions by adding support of third party utilities. | What do you think the biggest potential of Windows Server System is?The security, management and the administration features have improved dramatically, but in particular I like the Terminal Services improvement. It has been improved so that we can run a remotely hosted application in Windows similar to the ordinary local application instead of having two desktops on each machine (one local and one hosted by Terminal Services). So, to the user, it appears as if the application was installed on their machine, although it is really a seamless shortcut to a remote application running on a Terminal Server. What was the last book you read?Usually I read multiple books concurrently. The last book that I read was "Double Your Brain Power" by Jean Marie Stine. Currently I am reading "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People" and "The Eighth Habit from Effectiveness to Greatness" by Stephen R. Covey, both of which were recommended by our MVP Lead Mr. Amr El Garhy, whom I consider a great mentor. What music CD do you recommend?Actually, I am not an avid music fan. However, I love listening to classical music and any songs that have meaningful lyrics. Many of my favorite songs are sung by the Back Street Boys. What makes you a great MVP?Well, I generally try to avoid this kind of question since I believe that other people are the best judges to determine whether I am a great MVP and why. However, if pressed, I would say that I am a great MVP because I focus on one goal – "Determining how to reach more people and what I can do to help them". This goal provides me with the most inspiration, rather than comparing myself to others. I just keep evaluating myself in order to find areas that might be improved in order to achieve my personal best because it is easier to achieve excellence than to maintain it. Of course, I must also acknowledge the support from Infocenter and Microsoft, which were instrumental in my achievements. | What's in your computer bag?You will find my laptop, mouse, power converter plug, USB card reader, two portable HDDs, flash memory, my favorite dream interpretation CD, and some more DVDs and papers regarding the event to which I am going. What is the best thing that has happened since you have become an MVP?I have to thank Microsoft for all of my MVP experiences since everything has been great and I cannot cite one particular event as "the best". I treasure anything said or done by the MVP Program team or other MVPs – simple gestures of appreciation or encouraging words, the greatest Award that I have received from General Manager of Microsoft Gulf Mr. Charbel Fakhoury, small Kuwait MVP meetings, and the impressive MVP Global Summit – everything has been valuable and greatly meaningful. What is your motto?"It is not how much you know or how much you have, what really counts is how much you have shared and how many people you have helped." I believe that no one is eternal – all will die one day. However, once we are gone, what remains is the number of people who will remember us according to the kindness, assistance, or useful knowledge that we shared with them. Who is your hero?Actually I have many heroes. Professionally, I would cite Dr. Adel Zerai from Infocenter, and also Mr. Amr El Garhy, Mr. Jihad Al-Hazeenah, and Mr. Taj El-Khayat from Microsoft; all of whom have inspired my success. Also, Ms. Masooma Rahat and Ms. Doa’a Ali, my colleagues from Infocenter, who have helped to make the msexperts community and CSP Program a success. On a personal level, I regard my father and mother, family and friends as heroes because they provide continuous support and encouragement. Finally, Mr. Omar Shraim, who is another MVP from Kuwait, is my hero because of his impressive knowledge and great personality. What does success mean to you?It is a journey, a process of achieving your targets and setting new higher goals. Success means having the self-confidence to start the journey of developing a more meaningful life with a motto. |
